History



Emmaline Maxwell has a Degree in Drama and Theatre Studies and English Literature, where her specialist area of interest was the Energy of the Performer and Performance Training.  During and after her Degree, she trained in Japanese Butoh Dance and The Sacred Art of Clowning in London, which fed into her performance style. After University, she continued to work with Spectral Productions, devising and performing shows, adapting folktales in physical theatre, mask and puppetry, juggling props, and, acro-dance. Later, she was co-director of ‘Still Moving’ a physical theatre company working mostly in U.V. For a short time they toured small/mid scale theatres, nightclubs and festival venues throughout the UK and Europe and were at the forefront of bringing theatricality into the club scene.  In the late 1990's she  recorded some fun covers of jazz standards with John Blanchard of Silicon Drum, (such as My Funny Valentine) giving them an atmospheric and humorous studio twist.  You can hear a sample on John’s website:   http://www.silicondrum.com/johnblanchard.html (and click on My Funny Valentine mp3).

 

Drama and Performance

Following the birth of her children, Emmaline taught Acting and Performance at BTEC level and acted in some short examination films for CPCAB, she also appears in the award winning Slinky Pictures short film, Silence is Golden (2005). 

 

More recently, she directed the Butleigh School Circus 2009, which won a National Award for “Changing the Life of the School”, and this year directed and co-wrote the Fantastical Feast, a fun, highly energetic school production for over 100 children from ages 5-11years.

She now coaches Drama and prepares children for their LAMDA examinations.
